Packaging Supervisor – Job Description
Summary:
The Packaging Supervisor position is a hands-on leadership role that, reporting to the Operations Manager, oversee all aspects of beer packaging including bottling, canning and kegging. The Supervisor will ensure that production, process and quality goals are achieved as we work towards our business goals. Ensuring a safe workplace, meeting packaging requirements, promoting quality improvement initiatives, operating sustainably, and having a mindset of achieving excellence will be of paramount importance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
– Lead a production staff capable of meeting/exceeding the goals of the brewery as related to packaging of finished goods.
– Ensure that all production activities are conducted in alignment with Quidi Vidi’s safety, quality and sustainability initiatives, policies and procedures.
– Provide relevant training, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
– With the lead of the Operations Manager actively participate in the evaluation of the packaging staff’s technical performance
– Work closely with the Operations Manager and Maintenance Technician to ensure daily and weekly packaging schedules are met.
– Interact routinely with the Quidi Vidi management team to ensure the accurate reporting, safe handling and final disposition of full goods inventory leaving the production floor.
– Interact routinely with Quidi Vidi distribution team to ensure all packaging materials are available in advance, and in adequate volumes, to complete packaging schedules.
– Work with the Operations Manager and the Maintenance Technician to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of packaging.
– Working with the maintenance Technician and leading the packaging operators oversee sanitation and upkeep of all packaging equipment as well as the packaging area itself.
– Participate in Quidi Vidi’s packaging preventative maintenance program for all packaging equipment to maximize overall efficiency.
– Look to incorporate elements of lean manufacturing principles as appropriate.

Physical Requirements
Candidate should be able to lift at least 30lbs. from ground level and should also be able to move 165lbs. of kegged beer from one location to another. Candidate should be physically capable of standing for long periods of time and able to kneel, stoop, crouch or crawl.
