The Opportunity The role of the Nurse Educator – Graduate Nurse/Midwifery Program at the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (Townsville HHS) is to lead education and training of Graduate Nurses/Midwives to meet their responsibilities in the development, attainment and maintenance of education and facilitate staff development strategies against an agreed education framework including legislative requirements, accreditation requirements and health service requirements.

The Graduate Nurse/Midwifery Program at the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (Townsville HHS) is a 12-month program which provides an opportunity for recently graduated nurses/midwives to consolidate their nursing/midwifery knowledge and clinical skills. The program is stimulating and comprehensive, offering peer support and hands on training in a dynamic clinical setting, supported by an initial one-week orientation program specifically designed to meet the learning needs of a Graduate Nurse/Midwife. Additional Graduate Nurse/Midwife education days are provided to build on practical application and reflective practice.

Role requirements

• Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
• Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
• The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including the Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
• It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.

• Salary range of $60.01 to $65.15 p.h. (Nurse Grade 7)
• Annual leave with 17.5% loading
• Up to 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
