Tell me more…The Midwifery Educator role is essential in fostering an evidence based best practice clinical learning environment and in building the nursing and midwifery workforce, by being a role model for professional and clinical standards of practice and conduct. They are expected to use a variety of strategies to achieve this, i.e. clinical supervision, education delivery and mentoring.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience in assessing, planning, designing, implementing, evaluating and validating education and training programs, resources and events which emphasise performance improvements and maintenance of competence.
• Ability to provide clinical practice support through mentorship, clinical supervision and assessment of competence.
• Experience in clinical simulation.
• In depth knowledge and understanding of Indigenous health care; Midwifery led continuity models of care and the health determinants of Cape York, Torres Strait & Northern Peninsula Areas Communities.

Requirements for the role:
Currency, with the expected ability, to be able to teach in the following areas of remote health practice:

• Basic and Advanced Life Support for adult, and neonatal.
• Clinical practice skill including, but not limited to; advanced health assessment, newborn nutrition, pain management, perineal assessment and repair, maternal and neonatal emergency management, cannulation, patient and materials manual handling, context relevant equipment, infection control principles.
