Mount Isa Hospital is the main referral centre for the NWHHS with specialties including general medical, general surgical, operating theatres, midwifery and obstetrics, special care nursery, paediatrics, intensive care, emergency, and outpatient services, including day oncology services.

The Professional Practice Support Unit (PPSU) provides strategic leadership for education and clinical practice development for nurses and midwives across the NWHHS.

This role will work alongside the staff in the clinical areas, providing direct and indirect supervision to support the professional and clinical learning and practice of graduate registered nurses and midwives and undergraduate nursing and midwifery students.

We are seeking someone to promote a learning environment that supports professional development, and coordinate and deliver clinical and professional education initiatives and programs based on adult education and contemporary educational strategies.

Permanent full-time role, 76 hours per fortnight.

Base salary of $108,928 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6 – Band 2).

Requirements:

• A relevant post-graduate qualification in Nursing or Education would be highly regarded.
• Proof of qualification, registration with AHPRA and a current practising certificate are mandatory requirements.
• Shift work may be a requirement of the role.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Tuberculosis and COVID-19.
• A 6-month period of probation may apply.
