Queensland Government Hiring for Regional Liaison Officer (Identified) Job at Brisbane Full Time

The Regional Liaison Officer will report to the Head of Learning. The Regional Liaison Officer will consult with, and be guided by, the Executive Management Team and the Indigenous Advisory Panel.A critical requirement of the position is an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols and to consult, negotiate and communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Councils, Elders, and communities effectively and sensitively. The position plays a leading role in engaging with Indigenous students, artists and educators, as well as contributing to the development of digital and youth engagement outcomes in the development of the QAGOMA Learning Centre.Key Duties- Develop a cultural learning strategy that aligns with the Gallery’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Digital Transformation Project and the Australian Centre of Asia Pacific Art (ACAPA) Community Engagement strategies.

• Prepare and organise reports, records and agreements regarding cultural liaison with key stakeholders within the community, education and Government sectors.
• Liaise across the Gallery to plan, develop, promote and implement tailored, culturally appropriate and inclusive learning resources and programs.
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with external stakeholders including community Elders, community groups, local councils, and staff across Government departments, along with researchers in the tertiary sector and across the Cultural Precinct to research, develop and publish content on the QAGOMA website.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness of the Gallery and create pathways for First Nations people and communities to engage with the Gallery.
• Support and provide cultural advice, knowledge and perspectives regarding operational practice and staff training.
• Assist the Learning team with the development of tailored, culturally appropriate and inclusive online learning resources, as a subject matter expert on First Nations culture.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, with a focus in identifying opportunities for programming and educational material for Gallery exhibitions and events, including regional touring exhibitions.Additional Information:
• It is a genuine occupational requirement for this position to be filled by an Aboriginal Person or Torres Strait Islander person, as permitted by and arguable under, Sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
• The role involves regional travel, including multi-day workshops in rural and remote Key programming will require the successful candidate to work outside of standard office hours.
