We are currently seeking to recruit a to join our team. The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, planning, documenting, and executing domestic and international freight movements as well as the general support of production and manufacturing efforts via both hands on support and working in the ERP system.
The role involves:
Arrange suitable shipping for delivery of goods to the customer.
Work with vendors to arrange for pickup and delivery of incoming items.
Work with Controlled Good Officer to ensure all export laws and regulations are being followed.
Keep detailed records of shipments.
Assist Controlled Goods personnel with HS classification of QTS materials.
Monitor shipments in progress and brief stakeholders.
Screening of drivers and companies to ensure Controlled Good Compliance.
Achieve and Maintain TDG and IATA certification for Dangerous Goods Land, Sea and Air shipments.
Assist with the management of the ERP system.
Reliable and committed to adopting, upholding, and complying with QinetiQ values, ethics, policies and procedures including health and safety, work in line with the ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015, general data protection regulations and use of IT, HR policies and procedures, equality and diversity, security and confidentiality, and code of conduct etc.
To meet changing business needs, it may be necessary to make some amendments to the role purpose and accountabilities, and to take on additional responsibilities.
Required skills:
While some experience in domestics and international freight movement is beneficial, we will train the right candidate.
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Excellent organizational skills
Strong work ethic and ability to work under stress and tight schedules and moving deadlines.
High attention to detail.
Fluent with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
It would be desirable to have:
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with the transportation of dangerous goods.
Experience with an ERP tools (SAP, Deltek Costpoint)
IATA Certifications for air and sea dangerous goods shipments
Security Requirements:
Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
Able to obtain a Canadian Class 2 Security clearance
Must have a clean background history and obtain a criminal record check.
Safety Requirements:
Manual dexterity required to operate computer and peripherals.
Repetitive work.
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Manual gross and fine-motor dexterity needed to assemble and inspect work.
Looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Handling sensitive equipment & tooling.
Use of chemicals, flammable liquids/aerosols, and compressed gases.
Will need to obtain lift truck operator certification.
This position is safety sensitive due work requirements of being on the factory floor near equipment, field deployment and testing requirements .
