This is an exciting phase in our history and we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Canberra to join us as we embark on our next phase of growth.

The successful applicant will join an experienced, innovative and supportive tight-knit team, to contribute to the design, development and deployment of software solutions to Defence.

As Senior Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Design, code, test, correct and document software programs and scripts to deliver against agreed requirements using the following technologies; C# .Net, frameworks, MVC, SQL Server Databases, Java Script, HTML and CSS, Team Foundation Server, Entity Framework (EF) Core, TypeScript

Provide quality assurance by reviewing the code developed by other software developers

Contribute to the ongoing improvement of software development processes using Defence and industry best practices

Develop and update technical documentation and share knowledge of emerging software technologies specifically related to Microsoft software development.

Provide advice, guidance and assistance and support to other team members, APS and third parties as required.

To be successful in the role, you will need to bring with you:

Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering (or a relevant discipline)

Deep and thorough knowledge of and development experience within Microsoft technologies including but not limited to .NET Core, MVC and Entity Framework, Windows Console/Service Applications.

Proven and demonstrable knowledge of SQL and Database Design.

Knowledge and experience of other web languages and technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap.

Proven experience in designing and consuming Web APIs.

Ability to translate client and stakeholder requirements into technical specifications.

Experience in managing software development lifecycle.

Ability to take charge of multiple projects and manage projects from design to delivery.

Ability to solve complex tasks under pressure.

In depth understanding of clean code approaches, design patterns and SOLID principles.

Candidates will need to hold or have recently held an NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance.
