About the role:

The Internal Audit Officer will report directly into the President and CFO, and will be placed on an initial 3 month contract. The expectations for the Internal Audit Officer is to provide quality audit services in an independent, objective manner to assure financial and operational integrity, accountability, efficiency, effectiveness; as well as compliance with laws and regulations and company policies and procedures.

The Internal Audit Officer will have flexibility with regards to hours and location of work, however there will be a requirement to visit all 11 stores, and the QE Foodstores warehouse which is located in Sydney Markets. All retail, warehouse and office administration roles are to be audited. This includes Accounts, Human Resources, Recruitment, Store Managers, Warehouse Managers, and retail outlets, to name a few.

Functional Accountabilities

• Develop a flexible audit plan of internal audit work required to be undertaken in the agreed upon timeframe
• Implement the approved audit plan
• Report on the status of the audit plan
• Evaluation may include significant new or changing services, processes, operations, and control processes coincident with the development, implementation, and/or expansion of the Company
• Regularly provide information to the President and CFO on Audit activities and results relative to the Audit Plan
• Inform the President and CFO of significant emerging trends and successful practices in the Company
• Report critical issues to the President and CFO, along with progress toward resolving them.
  

We are looking for someone who has:

• A Certified Internal Auditor and professional membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors, or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Accounting, Commerce, Finance or Business.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing and conducting end to end internal audits (from planning to reporting) in diverse organisations, with sound organisation skills and ability to meet timelines for an array of projects and tasks

• An extensive knowledge of business practices especially in the field of finance, accounting, operations, warehousing, HR, retail outlets
• Practical understanding of the retail industry, particularly the small grocery sector

• Demonstrable leadership and interpersonal aptitude
• Strong communication skills

• Confidentiality and discretionary aptitude
• High level attention to detail
