Experienced Data Quality Analyst to join an Agile team where you will be responsible for developing enterprise-wide Data Quality metrics (using Ataccama) for a number of QBE’s core customer systems.

The opportunity

QBE is about to embark on a journey of growth in Data and Analytics and we will be looking for a number of experienced Data professionals to help us in this next phase of our growth. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Data Quality Analyst to join an Agile team where you will be responsible for developing enterprise-wide Data Quality metrics (using Ataccama) for a number of QBE’s core customer systems. Your strong foundation in data analysis, technical and communications skills and ability to engage and influence stakeholders will ensure success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct data quality assessments, including profiling data to understand the current state of data, its quality in various source system(s), identify gaps or missing data, collect statistics and derive data quality metrics

• Build out Enterprise Data Quality Metrics. For each system and set of DQ rules:

• Work with business and IT stakeholders to document new Data Quality Metrics requirements

• Source and standardise key data attributes from various source systems (using SQL and SSIS) into Ataccama platform, performing complex joins on source tables and applying various filters as required

• Perform standard profiling of data attributes on Ataccama platform

• Build custom Data Quality rules using Ataccama platform, and work with the business to validate new rules

• Publish summary Data Quality results from Ataccama into Collibra (QBE’s Data Governance platform) via APIs

• Publish detailed Data Quality results into SQL Server data warehouse for use in customised metrics dashboards (using Power BI)

• Work with IT to deploy code from DEV to PROD environments

• Facilitate resolution of identified data issues with QBE’s data stewards, supporting the business in root cause analysis and following standard data quality practice

• Support the Data Quality Manager across all Information Management activities

What does success look like?

Working within the Data Strategy and Governance team, you have contributed to the publication of enterprise-wide Data Quality metrics and assisted in driving an increased level of Data Quality Maturity in QBE that delivers business value.

What do you bring?

• Proven experience working within a data governance/management function

• Strong SQL skills (experience in MS SQL Server preferred)

• Experience with ETL technologies (Microsoft stack preferred e.g. SSIS)

• Experience working with Data Quality tools (Ataccama preferred)

• Data visualisation experience (PowerBI preferred)

• Data warehouse experience

• Demonstrated ability to liaise with technical and non-technical staff to achieve results

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong quantitative/analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong business acumen

• Experience in complex commercial environments

• Business stakeholder management with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders

• Degree qualified in finance/accounting, Information Management, mathematics, statistics or related discipline

• Desirable – Previous working experience in the Financial Services Industry, specifically General Insurance

• Desirable – Experience with or working knowledge of CPS220, CPG235, CPS234, Privacy Act or other data-related regulations
