About the role
As a Junior Back-end Engineer at Q-CTRL, you will be responsible for the development, testing, and documentation of Q-CTRL’s associated microservices and client packages. It’s a great opportunity to make a real impact whilst contributing to Back-end Engineering best practices and delivering software that is elegant, efficient, secure, tested, and documented.
You will be joining a well-established engineering team offering you support, coaching, and mentorship. You will work closely with the Quantum Product Engineering, Front-end Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Design teams to advocate a culture and practice of quality and continuous improvement throughout the business.

What you will do:

    • Develop, test, and document microservices and client packages that support Q-CTRL’s various products.
    • Be an active contributor in the Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective meetings.
    • Review code submitted by your colleagues via pull requests.
    • Share ideas with the team about new solutions and implementations which could improve the platform.
    • Stay up-to-date with current best practices and investigate new technologies to support the Q-CTRL platform.

We would love to hear from you if…

    • You have 1-2 years of software engineering experience, in particular with web development using Python (Bonus point if familiar with Django and GraphQL)
    • You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
    • You have full work rights in Australia (we do not offer visa sponsorship for this role)
    • You have a strong interest in deep tech
    • You embody Q-CTRL’s core values and you demonstrate them in your words and actions both internally and externally: you strive to be real, trusted, just, and revered.
    • You are humble enough to bend to the will of the frameworks, technologies, constraints, and people you work with when doing so won’t have a materially negative impact. In other words, you can play by someone else’s rules when that’s the best thing to do.
