Pure are once again delighted to be working with one of our favourite clients who, due to expansion, have a new requirement for a Health & Safety Officer.
You would be working on a small to medium sized manufacturing site which forms part of a large global organisation. You would primarily engage with the frontline workforce to raise awareness of health and safety policies, risks and controls. You would assist with incident investigations, collecting data for occupational health and hazard assessments and with the company’s compliance with Government Laws, Regulations and Company policies. Your work will be under moderate supervision with some latitude to independently set objectives, priorities and timelines for the work allocated to you. This role has no budgetary responsibility.
Other duties relevant to this role include;
• Direct employee engagement activities such as risk assessments and raising general safety awareness to employees, managers, and other stakeholders
• Conduct safety and industrial hygiene audits and inspect facilities with area of responsibility to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with HSE regulatory laws and quality audits (e.g., ISO45001)
• Assist in collecting industrial hygiene samples related to air, noise, gases, dust, fumes and other potentially toxic materials for analysis
• Train staff from multiple divisions in safety procedures, including specialized safety training (e.g., confined space, LOTOTO) and other safety and health related required training. Internal training can be provided on this.
• Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify any problem areas, and may direct remedial action
• Participate in the organization of occupational health programs that supports employee wellbeing and industrial hygiene
• Conduct health and safety orientations, visit work sites and distribute literature to implement and promote safety, industrial hygiene and/or environmental policies and procedures
• Assist with drafting appropriate Health and Safety s and presentations for appropriate stakeholders
• Perform other duties as requested
The ideal applicant for this position will possess the following;
• Right to live and work in UK
• Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
• GSCE Standard or NVQ Level 1 and four (4) years of work experience in an industrial environment with high Health & Safety standards and participating in Safety Committees, working on H & S initiatives, participating on emergency response/behaviour safety team or participating in HSE inspections OR
• A recognised Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH) and two (2) years of work experience in an industrial environment working to high Health & Safety standards
• NEBOSH Certification is preferred
