Purdys Chocolatier is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Support Office in Vancouver, BC.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and presenting the financial statements, preparing budgets, analyzing financial results to budgets and prior year, assisting with the application of upgraded accounting software for speedy periodic closing, implementing the internal auditing functions in accordance with accepted policies and procedures.

The key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze the financial results against budget and prior fiscal year
• Present the periodic financial statements to the department heads
• Provide coaching and leadership to Intermediate Accountants in their analysis and their presentation of financial schedules
• Work closely with the managers/directors to assist in the implementation of the ERP enhancement
• Involve in the change of accounting chart and process to fully utilize the accounting software functions for automation and speedy financial periodic closing
• Ensure timely delivery of the financial statements reporting after period closing
• Develop internal audit procedures to ensure compliance to the corporate financial governance
• Assist external auditor’s annual review
• Ensure business in compliance with tax guidelines and regulations
• Prepare annual corporate tax return
• Prepare and review periodic, quarterly and annual financial statements
• Prepare and review departmental budgets and rolling up to a consolidated budget
• Assist with ad hoc projects

The Successful Candidate Must Have:

• CPA designation
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferrable
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards
• Demonstrated experience working with computerized accounting systems
• Advanced MS Excel
• Excellent writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic and proven initiative
• Ability to distill complex financial information into high-level summaries
• Strong leadership on execution of team objectives
