PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools).

We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC Schools) to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley.

This includes, but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Staff Accountant believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure schools’ success across the organization.

This role supports the day-to-day accounting functions that lead to accurate and timely s.

What you will need to accomplish :

• Perform specialized and technical functions in assembling, tabulating, calculating, verifying, and filing accounting, as well as payroll and fiscally related information and data
• Perform complex and technical fiscal record management operations related to one or more specialized accounting, budget, and payroll control functions
• Assist in the revision, formulation, and implementation of accounting, budget control, and payroll record management systems and procedures
• Posts, balances, and verifies accounting and budget control records
• Prepare trial balances, financial statements, State and Federal related documents, and s
• Establish posts, and maintain journals, ledgers, and a variety of other accounting and budget control records
• Prepare and verify the accuracy and completeness of financial files, records, and s.
• Prepare accounting and budget control record analyses
• Process a variety of documents about payroll transactions, including payroll registers, employee status s, insurance detail, and a variety of other documentation
• Assist District personnel in the resolution of unusual accounting, budget, and payroll problems, issues, and concerns
• Receive, review, and verify payroll documents and s for accuracy and adherence to legal mandates, policies, and operational guidelines
• May assist in the preparation and distribution of fiscal and payroll-related s required by District and County operational units
• Audit, verify and release payroll warrants and various patrol documents
• Operate computers, terminals, and other business office machines and equipment
• Work with a computer-based accounting and budget control system
• Prepare system input data, analyze, verify, and reconcile output s
• Make complex arithmetical calculations and verifies computations
• Interpret and provide information regarding routine legal mandates, policies, regulations, and operational guidelines to District personnel
• Provide technical information to County, State, and Federal agencies
• Ad Hoc duties as needed
• Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What do we require from you?

Minimum Qualifications :

Education :

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or a related field required

Experience :

• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Advanced working knowledge of Excel
• Experience with overseeing multiple school accounts preferred
• Experience in building systems and processes

Skills and Abilities :

• Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, time and project management experience a must
• Non-profit experience a plus
• Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate with different constituents

Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below.

Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
