‘The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) is a new public body legally created in November 2021, under the Environment Act 2021.

Their mission is to protect and improve the environment by holding the below organisations and individuals to account for their actions towards the Environment;

• Government Departments
• Government Ministers
• Regulators
• Local Authorities
• Some private bodies, such as water companies – but only in respect of their public powers and duties’

As a Finance Assistant your main responsibilities would be:

• Monitor and manage the finance mailbox.
• Bookkeeping as necessary in the accounting system, Sage 200.
• Preparing bi-monthly pay runs.
• Carrying out bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations as necessary.
• Updating the accruals and prepayments schedules.
• Assisting with Payroll.
• Monitoring staff expenses and ensuring they are in line with the OEP policy.
• Assisting with forecasting and monthly management reporting.
• Any other activity that the Head of Finance and Corporate Services or the Principal Finance Officer may reasonably require the postholder to carryout.

You’ll have relevant experience in:

• Experience of working in a finance role and in bookkeeping – around 3 years
• You will be ready and able to take the initiative, work independently where required,
• Well organised, delivery-focused and an effective forward-planner.
