POSITION TITLE: Quality Manager
S TO President & CEO (direct) / Plant Manager (Indirect)
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular/Full-time, Exempt
PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Quality Manager is responsible for planning and executing the organizations Quality Management System in accordance with ISO9001 requirements and internal strategic objectives including leading the company’s continuous improvement projects. This includes managing quality technicians in performing all core quality control functions including; receiving inspection, in-process inspection, dimensional and functional testing, control of non-conforming material, warranty, document control, and corrective actions. In addition, this position will help lead the organizations continual improvement initiatives through the use of the PDCA process.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to):
Responsibilities include the following and any other duties that may be assigned.
· Training internal auditors and planning internal auditing activities
· Evaluating acceptance of purchased components and communicating with vendors on component issues through the NC process.
· Analyzing warranty returns for root cause and implementing containment and corrective actions and communicating internally and externally with customers in the resolution of warranty related issues.
· Driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and the CAR (corrective action ing) process.
o Use the PDCA process to track, record and implement continuous improvement projects
o Engage with the management staff, assembly staff, and others to document future continuous improvement efforts
o Work with the Plant Manager/Management staff to help prioritize the continuous improvement projects
o status of continuous improvement projects through the PDCA process and when necessary present status of these projects to the Management Staff
o Stress the Check and Act aspect of the PDCA process and on the successes and failures as well as how successful PDCAs can be duplicated in other areas of the company.
· Managing quality assurance activities including;
o in-process auditing of assembly and extrusion processes and products.
o lot/batch and OOBA (out-of-box-audit) testing in accordance with internal and external requirements and standards.
o receiving and inspection of components
· Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
· Making sure that manufacturing or production processes meet international and national standards
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are preferred of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
· Strong computer skills in Excel and/or Access, strong problem solving skills, good math and analytical skills.
· Experience with ISO9001
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing principals (desired)
· Strong hands on abilities
· Common sense mentality rooted in applicable product and process knowledge
· Strong leadership ability
o Able to explain strategic goals to direct s while managing the tactical tasks
· Strong communication skills
o Must be able to talk with both Internal and External customers
· Experience reading and interpreting dimensional drawings and industry standards
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a science-related field or equal work experience.
Other degrees may be considered as well.
Certification courses in software such as Power Point, MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel. (Preferred)
