Propel Youth Arts WA has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Finance and Administration Officer to join our team in November 2021. If you are looking to make your next career move and are interested in joining a small team doing impactful work in our community, this role may be for you.
The Finance and Administration Officer is a diverse position that supports the Propel Youth Arts WA team in their day-to-day operations, with the key priorities being finance and administration support to the office team and our stakeholders. They are responsible for undertaking general office administration tasks to ensure the office functions smoothly and provides administrative support to the General Manager and other team members for projects, events, and marketing-related tasks.
The position is also responsible for the finance and payroll functions of the organisation which includes end to end staff payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, debtors and creditors, as well as supporting the General Manager with the preparation of financial reports, acquittals to funding bodies, external audit requirements, and liaising with insurance brokers and banks.
We are looking for someone who has good knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices, and either possesses or is currently working towards a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. We will also look favourably upon applications from people with similar qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as accounting, arts administration, or arts administration.
At 0.6 FTE, or 3 days per week, this role offers flexibility to suit people at different stages of their careers. Propel Youth Arts WA is the peak body for youth arts in Western Australia, working in collaboration with artists, communities, and organisations to ensure that young people are equipped to inspire arts and culture on their own terms.
Propel is a membership-based not-for-profit incorporated association established in 2003 as the Youth Arts Network and formerly known as Propelarts. Propel acts as the peak body for the youth arts sector, servicing young people aged 12 – 26 by connecting artists, youth workers, practitioners, arts collectives, and communities with relevant organisations.
Providing services and programs across all art forms, we provide access to information, networks, mentoring, skills development, and employment in the arts and creative industries to young people and those who work with them. Propel is focused on arts advocacy, skills development, and access to opportunities, for those already engaged in the arts and those who would like to be.
