About the Position

The Accounting Analyst reports to the Senior Analyst and may be responsible for a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: budgeting and forecasting, month-end closing processes, financial reporting, and payroll and compensation processing. This individual will conduct financial analysis, prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensure compliance with GAAP and adhere to company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparation of annual budget, quarterly forecast and monthly variance analysis of actuals to budget
• Communicate, analyze, and research to resolve exceptions
• Coordinate month-end closing process with other teams within the department
• Demonstrate solid understanding of the bank / balance sheet account reconciliation process; complete accurate and compliant reconciliations in accordance with company requirements; follow-up on timely clearing of all reconciling transactions
• Prepare journal entries for monthly accrual, true-up, adjustment, and payroll related transactions
• Assist in regulatory compliance functions related to, among others, unclaimed property and tax authorities
• Assist to research and prepare information for internal and external audits
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with operations team
• Contribute to a cooperative team environment in order to meet department deadlines and goals
• Handle highly confidential information
• Assist in other ad-hoc or special projects as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting/finance
• At least 2 years of experience in the accounting field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Work under pressure to meet deadlines
• High degree of accuracy with a good eye for detail
• Self-motivated and proactive
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to learn and use innovative technologies on a continual basis
• Must have some flexibility of work hours and have the ability to potentially put in extra hours during peak time
• Experience in a shared services accounting environment is a plus
• Insurance experience is a plus
