ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. This purpose of this position is to aid the Operations Supervisor by coordinating the day-to-day workflow and oversight of the transport team. Dispatcher must be prepared to step in and perform the duties of a transport team to ensure the safe, timely movement of all patients.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Manage day-to-day operations of patient and non-patient trips as appropriate during the shift while maintaining efficient and optimal patient flow, utilizing the transport management program. Escalates transports delays or staff concerns to leadership.
2. Checks transporters in and out of the transport management system.
3. Occasionally assists ancillary and nursing staff with education on how to enter transport request in transport management program.
4. Coordinates lunch schedule according to Transports shift start times, ensuring adequate staff are available for workload.
5. Effectively utilizes down time by assigning equipment rounds throughout hospital or completing of education assignments.
6. Train new dispatcher coordinator and or transport employees as needed
7. Ability to think quickly and react appropriately to stat and emergency situations.
8. Keep open lines of communication with Supervisor to help field any issues, events, or concerns.
9. Must participate in the training of employees on policies
10. Prioritizes multiple requests for transport by recognizing urgency.
11. Ensures that each employee has appropriate work assignment and is aware of expectations or special circumstances, and review beginning of day checklist.
12. Works in collaboration with leadership to design/alter work assignments as need to ensure timely patient transfer throughout the hospital.
13. Communicates delays and reasons for delays in transport to appropriate units and relays concerns and problems to supervisor/manager.
14. Completes work order tickets for equipment issues and enters RL6 safety for all transport issues.
15. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, data entry, works in a team environment with minimal supervision listening and documentation. Must be able to operate a computer.
Years of Experience: At least 1 years Transport experience in hospital setting. Complete dispatch training and understand
Communication: Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in written form in a professional and effective manner
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries.
Requires effective interpersonal skills.
Must be able to input and retrieve information from a computer.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; and prolonged periods of standing and or sitting. Must be able to operate machinery. Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs., 20%of the time.
