Job Title: Senior Buyer

Reporting To: Purchasing Manager

Role Definition:

The Senior Buyer will process and manage purchase orders, ensure accurate quantities and dates in our MRP system, expedite purchase orders, negotiate prices, and evaluate MRP requirements.

Responsibilities

· Place Purchase Orders and follow up with suppliers to expedite delivery schedules

· Develop and maintain supplier relationships

· Negotiate prices and terms

· Evaluate supplier performance and support supplier development (pricing, quality, lead time, delivery and customer service)

· Maintain supplier database within ERP database and ensure dates are accurate at all times

· Coordinate with internal teams from Production, QA and Accounts payable to respond to supplier issues, and rush items to be purchased.

· Address pull-ins and push-outs

· Work to co-ordinate technical specifications and provide alternate sources for purchases when required; work with Purchasing Manager to validate opportunities for cost reductions

· Resolve order receipt / invoicing issues with vendors and accounting department

· Report on open order status

· Develop and enhance purchasing policies and procedures

· Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· 3-5 years’ in a Procurement role, in a manufacturing environment

· Experience with wire cable, connectors, electromechanical components an asset

· Experience with MRP and ERP systems (Infor VISUAL is an added benefit)

· Knowledge of Procurement processes

· Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; organized, analytical and detail-oriented

· Capacity to prioritize work, perform multiple tasks and work under tight time constraints

· Proficient PC skills

· Ability to apply a broad understanding of financial management principals

· Aptitude for technology

· Negotiating Skills
