We are an established local manufacturer and wholesale family business with multiple locations in both the United States and Canada, seeking an Sr. Accountant to join the accounting team. This position is located on our new Salem, OR facility.

You must be a self-starter with a hands-on approach, results-oriented, a problem solver who can handle multiple tasks under deadlines with the ability to work both independently and with a team.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Accountant works closely with the CFO with the planning and direction of the accounting operations of the company. The Sr. Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
• Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Must have experience with Inventory Costing and Inventory Control Management.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Previous experience with ERP systems
• Procurement background preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
• Three to five years warehouse inventory environment experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
