Professional Technical Ltd Looking for Geotechnical Engineer at Greater Manchester Full Time

A national structural warranty provider seeks a home-based Geotechnical Engineer to assess client designs in the context of low-rise and traditional housing. Starting salary of up to £60,000. Benefits include bonus structure, enhanced pension and healthcare.

The remote Geotechnical Engineer role is open to applications from across the UK. Minimal travel is required to ensure ongoing compliance or in a claims context.

Geotechnical Engineer Responsibilities

• Assess structural designs of residential building types under 6 storeys, providing detailed analysis in relation to foundation design
• Consider drawings, calculations and all related technical information in order to mitigate against risks arising from the foundation design
• Conduct site inspections and assessments on more complex claims to assess causes and identify remedial works, where necessary
• Give technical advice on claims
• Advise underwriting and marketing departments on technical matters so that team members remain well informed
• Liaise with clients, consultants and other external and internal stakeholders on technical matters, always mindful of standards being maintained and procedures adhered to

Geotechnical Engineer Requirements

• CEng / MIStructE
• Degree qualified in civil / structural / geotechnical related subject
• Experienced in foundation design, pile design, raft foundation design, ground improvements
• Experience working on behalf of a civil / geotechnical consultancy /groundworks contractor
• Ability to undertake site inspections to assess compliance with the approved design, technical manual and Codes of Practice
• Broad understanding of general insurance principals and terminology
• Excellent communication skills
• Full driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use
