The Education Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Education Director and to the overall program. This position will initiate and coordinate the administrative functions for the educational side of the program. The Education Coordinator will perform routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files.
JOB FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL-
Fully review the Head Start Performance Standards relating to the education and early childhood development work plan.
Familiarize with the CLASS Observation Tool, demonstrate competence of the CLASS Observation Tool by completing the CLASS Reliability Exam.
Input non-federal share (in-kind) into programs data collection system.
Assist in compiling reports as assigned by Director of Education in a timely manner.
Provide clerical support for Director of Education and serve as staff recorder.
Perform office duties including word processing, filing, copying, scanning, data entry, mailings, and purchasing process.
Coordinate with Director of Education for scheduling and facilitating Center meetings and activities and community events.
Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, meeting minutes, flyers, and calendars.
File, store and destroy old records as instructed
Maintain proper documentation of all expenditures for reimbursements, petty cash, and purchase orders
Ensures compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards; State of Louisiana licensing requirements, and CACFP.
Process check requests and track completion of all requests to ensure that all invoices and employee requests are completed accurately and timely.
Manage and monitor purchasing card or corporate card ensuring all transactions are business related
charges and timely submission of receipts to the appropriate department.
Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all medical matters.
Participate in new hire training.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
One experience in an office setting.
Core Skills:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation
Must be honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
Must demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality
Additional Requirements:
Physical examination and background checks are required for this position
Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching
Ability to stand, walk, or bend periodically
Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingerstyping and/or writing
Ability to work frequently at close visual range
Ability to receive and respond to oral communication
Ability to lift a child weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed
Travel:
Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions
