Prime Appointments Looking for Structural Engineer at Guildford, Surrey Full Time

An award-winning consultancy are looking to recruit both Senior and Intermediate level Structural Engineers to be responsible for the day-to-day management of projects to ensure projects are delivered within agreed budget and programme. Senior level candidates should be technically strong in steel, RC, masonry and timber design.

Duties:

• Produce technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports
• Review and check drawings prepared by graduate engineers
• Plan site investigation works
• Prepare feasibility studies and provide design advice
• Prepare reports, senior level staff will undertake the project management and financial control of projects
• Obtain and review quotes for investigation works, manage the appointments and work of sub-contractors
• Attend and design meetings, site meetings and undertake site inspections
• Undertake surveys and prepare reports
• Produce designs, assessments and calculations
• Liaise effectively with clients, local authorities and other design team members
• Effectively manage own time and expenditure on tasks and support more junior staff

Skills & Experience:

• HND/HNC or above in Civil or Structural engineering is essential
• Professionally qualified with ICE or IStructE is preferable for senior level roles
• Must have a good understanding of engineering principles
• Able to produce hand calculations and sketches of structural elements and have knowledge of design software
• Must be conversant in designing to British Standards/Eurocodes
• Competent in designing structures in concrete, steelwork, timber and masonry using CAD packages ideally SCIA and Tekla
• Experience of new build and refurbishment projects
• Good detailing knowledge and a good understanding of CDM regulations
• Must be able to identify and define simple engineering problems and identify alternative engineering solutions to satisfy the client’s brief
• Experience in the production of specifications, technical reports and feasibility studies
