Preston Companies is looking for a IT System Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users. Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently as well as incorporate new ideas.

IT Systems Administrator Responsibilities

• Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
• Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event lop warnings and errors. Resourcing monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
• Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise
• Help build, test and maintain new servers as needed
• Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates
• Support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, Cisco wireless AP’s and network segments
• Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls
• Build upon an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies

IT Systems Administrator Requirements

• 5 years of experience
• Proven experience as a system administrator, network administrator or similar role
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
• Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery
• Ability to create and troubleshoot scripts
• Excellent communications skills
• Knowledge in Microsoft 365/Azure
