VP of Finance — Automotive / Manufacturing / Finance

Prestolite Electric/Leece-Neville, a leading global manufacturer of alternators and starter motors for the heavy-duty vehicle market with operations in North America, Europe and China is seeking a VP of Finance to be located in our Arcade NY office. The VP of Finance will provide financial direction and strategic leadership for the company to achieve plant, division and corporate objectives. The role will oversee all financial aspects of the organization and provide cross functional support and assist in developing effective solutions to business challenges.

Strategy, Planning and Management

• Strategic business partner to senior executive leadership team.
• Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization
• Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
• Evaluate Processes and make suggestions for increasing working efficiency.
• Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with company’s strategic plan.
• Recruit, hire and develop accounting staff as required.
• Serve as a key member of executive leadership team
• Organize board meetings and act in secretarial capacity

Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting

• Develop and maintain operating budget and forecasts
• Oversee preparation financial and budgeting reports
• Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
• Perform analysis of business initiatives and product changes.
• Establish and maintain financial metrics analyses to highlight areas for focus

Accounting, General Ledger, Tax and Operations

• Evaluate the finance division structure for optimization and best practices
• Ensure timely and accurate financial and management reporting
• Responsible for maintenance all aspects of compliance with GAAP
• Ensure proper systems and financial software in place to support accounting functions
• Monitor and evaluate burden absorption and overhead allocation processes
• Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
• Provide support to external Tax consultant in filings and optimizing tax opportunities
• Oversee timely and accurate filing for property tax, sales tax and 1009’s
• Provide guidance and recommendation on preparation of product price books

Cash Management/Financing

• Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
• Maintain banking relationships
• Manage Loan covenant compliance
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Secondary check signer and wire/ACH approval
• Provide guidance relating to the collection process and credit approval

Benefits/Compensation

• Provide insight and recommendations on bonus structures
• Serve as Member of Benefit committee
• Assist with 5500 filings and benefit Plan audits
• Work with external actuaries regarding pension funding
• Evaluate and provide recommendations on employment contracts and GAAP compliance

Compliance/Risk Management

• Oversee and provide recommendations on record retention policy
• Census reporting compliance
• Maintain Government pricing worksheet for bids on government contracts
• Contract and lease review and compliance
• Establish and maintain internal controls
• Manage commercial insurance program

Position Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA Preferred
• Background in Public Accounting and MBA preferred
• 6 years minimum experience as a VP of Finance, Controller or CFO
• 14+ years total accounting or finance experience
• Knowledge of GAAP, and taxation
• Manufacturing experience a plus
• Systems implementation experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Oracle / ERP Systems Experience
• Occasional travel required including international

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
