ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF STUDENT AFFAIRS- 2022 – 2023

The Preparatory Charter High School is a tuition-free, college preparatory schooling option for Philadelphia students in grades nine through twelve. Job Description

• Provide exemplary leadership to all members of the school’s community in establishing a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, inclusive, and creative school culture and in achieving the schools mission of preparing each student for college;

• Coordinate community building, including but not limited to assemblies, events, and other activities and routines;

• Manage the schools discipline policies, and keep accurate discipline records;

• Handles emergency and crisis situations that pertain to students and campus life;

• Works with counselors and tutors to establish development plans for those students’ showing signs of academic struggle;

• Serve as the point person for all behavioral concerns, and assist teachers, students, and families in the effective creation and implementation of individual behavior plans;

• Responsible for implementing strategies that will motivate and inspire students to succeed and stay in school;

• Observe classes to give teachers feedback on classroom culture;

• Implement the high school’s incentive and discipline policies, including coordinating detention, as well as implementing restorative justice practices (PBIS);

• Serve as a point person for all High School students and families regarding behavioral performance and progress.

• Works with teachers to constantly assess and improve student achievement results. Provides instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.

• Communicates and promotes high standards and expectations for high-level performance to staff, students, and community. Recognizes excellence and achievement.

• Implements an observation and feedback cycle that is data-centered and ensures continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

• Works with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning. Promotes the effective use of instructional technology.

• Fosters a culture of professionalism among teachers and staff.

• Regularly consults with staff about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of educational programs. Includes students and community representatives when appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Qualifications:

• PA Principal Certification

• Successful experience in an urban setting.

• Genuine interest, belief, and care for students’ personal and academic success

• Commitment to professional growth, self-reflection, receptiveness to feedback, and a desire to continuously improve

• A strong sense of professional responsibility as well as personal accountability for student achievement

Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000/Annually

12 month Position

Start Date: July 1, 2022

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $85,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
