Premier Kosher Inc. Hiring for Mechanical Engineer Technician – Machine Operator at Caistor Centre, ON Full Time

Premier Kosher is a family owned poultry processing plant located in Caistor Centre. We are looking for hard working and energetic people to join our team!

Strong Mechanically orientated technician/operator responsible for the operation, productivity, sanitation and maintenance of packing, sorting and cutting equipment in a fast-paced meat (poultry) environment.

Job Duties

· Responsible of the smooth operation and running of packing equipment (deboner, grinder, sorter/grader and tray packer.)

· Become fully verse and responsible for the day-to-day running of the equipment.

· Work closely with the Production Lead Hand / Supervisor to ensure that the production orders are on schedule

· Train backup and support staff to safety run the equipment.

· Develop related SOPs including consideration to safety features like guards, e-stops and protection of electrical components.

· Establish and complete a daily documented compliance pre and post operation checklist.

· Proactively set up and be ready for production to start on time.

· Work with the maintenance department to develop and implement a Preventative maintenance program for each piece of equipment including written procedures, a preventative maintenance Schedule and an minimum inventory levels of required spare parts

· Work with the production manager to establish and track Key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure productivity and continuous improvement opportunities.

· Identify and report deficiencies and proposed corrective actions timely.

· Able to respond to the planned schedule and schedule changes when required.

· Assist area supervisor to ensure all employees wear required PPE and follow company GMPs

· Prepare paperwork including production and quality reports

· Train on Cutting Table and Breast Deboner for staff relief

• Other tasks and duties to be assigned as needed

Experience and Training

· Mechanical engineering technician or related education.

• WHMIS and Electrical training provided

· Prior experience operating food processing machinery is an asset

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment an asset

Skills

· Strong mechanical aptitude

• Above average problem solving/trouble shooting/decision making skills

· A mature outlook and good work ethic is essential

· Work independently or as part of a team

· Willing to take initiative

· A good understanding of English

Technical understanding of machine operations and their uses

Working Conditions

· Able to lift/handle up to 23kg/50lbs

· Cold work environment – Bulk of day in refrigerated environment (4 – 10 °C)

· Must be able to stand for long periods of time

· Poultry (raw meat) environment

· Repetitive movements

• Must come prepared with safety shoes and warm clothing, including cotton gloves.
