Prairie Seeds Academy is a K-12 public charter school located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. As a charter school, we are focused on teaching about Hmong culture and language along with certain Environmental Education initiatives. We are a one to one chromebook school and every classroom is equipped with a projector. JOB SUMMARY
This posting is for a full time middle school social studies teacher. The teaching assignment is for 6th grade MN Studies and 7th grade U.S. Studies (8th grade Global Studies and 9th grade Geography). The expectations of a classroom teacher is to create a flexible educational program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
JOB FUNCTION
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
· Develops lesson plans and instructional materials
· Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
· Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
· Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and stays current with progress s
· Keeps up consistent communication with families through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress.
· Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to best support student success.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
· Hold a bachelor’s degree in the content
· Hold a MN teaching license in the appropriate subject matter and age group
· Must have strong classroom management and behavior management
· Must have proficiency with technology
· Preferred candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in an urban setting
· Preferred candidates will have experience with working with multilingual learners
