Overview
Join PLI and represent the legal community’s premier provider of continuing education and research services as a Manager, Talent Acquisition in our New York office. The Manager, Talent Acquisition will support the full-cycle recruitment process and will collaborate with hiring managers to successfully fill open roles across the organization. The Manager will also lead all efforts regarding PLI’s Federal Contractor obligations.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Regarding work schedule, the expectation is that the Manager will work onsite at PLI’s midtown NYC office at least 2 days each week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
RECRUITMENT AND SOURCING
Discuss job responsibilities and required skills/experience for open job with hiring manager.
Review, revise or create job descriptions of open jobs, as needed.
Review internal salary ranges, and conduct research of marketplace ranges for each open job, using salary surveys and other online resources.
Oversee the development and posting of recruitment ad copy and research relevant online employment sites.
Proactively source qualified candidates via LinkedIn, referrals through networking and from internal employee recommendations. Maintain a pipeline of viable candidates for future openings.
Select resumes of qualified applicants and discuss next steps with hiring manager.
Act as Affirmative Action Officer and ensure that all recruitment strategies and required recordkeeping is in compliance with PLI’s Affirmative Action Plan. Conduct proactive outreach to local organizations that represent veterans, minorities and individuals with disabilities to share PLI’s job openings.
INTERVIEWING
Phone-screen selected qualified applicants and document conversations in iCIMS, ensuring all questions adhere to legal employment guidelines.
Oversee arrangement of Zoom/Teams or in-person interviews with selected candidates and hiring managers.
Provide internal guidebook to hiring managers and others regarding how to conduct an effective and compliant interview, including use of behavior-based questions.
Collect and share detailed interview feedback to all involved with interview processes.
ONBOARDING
Extend verbal offer to selected applicant including information regarding PLI’s pre-employment process and brief overview of benefit programs.
Oversee pre-employment process and development of offer letters and other necessary paperwork for new hire
OTHER PROJECTS
Routinely conduct research from various sources of salary data in order to remain competitive in the talent marketplace.
Remain informed about all legal DOL, EEOC, state and city employment requirements (particularly NYC and San Francisco)
Encourage PLI employees to share open jobs with friends, family and professional network, and refer qualified candidates for open positions. Highlight details regarding PLI’s Referral Award program.
Oversee development and review of monthly/quarterly data reports from iCIMS and develop new recruitment strategies based on results.
Maintain relationships and agreements with outside vendors.
Keep current with recruitment trends and technology and share updates with HR team.
Other projects, as assigned.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This position oversees the Talent Acquisition Associate.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in related field required e.g., concentration in HR, Business, Psychology or Sociology.
Master’s degree and/or PHR or SPHR certification a plus, as are completion of continuing education courses focused on HR.
Four to six+ years solid, full-cycle recruitment, interviewing and onboarding experience across a wide range of positions, in either or both for profit and nonprofit environments. Staffing firm experience is a plus, as is targeted recruiting for IT, Sales or Marketing positions.
Experience with various modes of recruitment sourcing is critical, including knowledge of niche employment web sites.
Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter and an applicant tracking system is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Strong work ethic, “can do” approach to assignments, adaptability, attention to detail, and thorough follow-up skills are essential.
Ability to multi-task and solid organizational skills are critical.
Ability to keep matters confidential is essential.
Capable of taking initiative, working collaboratively, and maintaining professional demeanor is expected.
Experience managing others a plus.
