GENERAL DESCRIPTION

As a Finance Manager, Marketing, you will be enthusiastic about finance, marketing analytics, and an understanding of how great insights lead to superior performance. You will be able to find patterns in big and sometimes ambiguous data and be able to interpret what you find. You will drive towards outcomes and will be comfortable collaborating and sharing your ideas in a fast-paced environment. You will also be able to work well independently, completing tasks with high quality, but unafraid to seek out suggestions from other team members. You will directly support key marketing efforts to enable massive growth and scale for the Company. You will be a strategic thought partner in various areas within Marketing and FP&A: menu, e-commerce media, loyalty, pricing, test and learn, etc. This role requires a highly collaborative proactive leader who can solve problems and manage projects autonomously in a high-growth, quick-scaling environment while providing the necessary financial diligence and analysis that will assist leadership in making critical business decisions. You will encounter curiosity and candor, knowing that the quality of the idea wins the day. You can operate in a casual, focused, and agile environment. You will have consistent contact with the CMO, the CFO, and other members of the Senior Leadership Team. You will lead and behave according to the Potbelly Values and uphold the Potbelly Advantage.

FOCUS

Responsibilities

• Build a strategic partnership with Marketing leaders, contribute to growth strategies, mid and long-range planning.
• Develop, analyze, interpret, and report financial and operating results of marketing activities; improve forecast accuracy and visibility.
• Assess viability of potential marketing activities (media spend, promotions, LTOs, etc.) to aid in go-no-go activation decisions
• Develop, refine, and implement frameworks for effective marketing investment decision making, such as ROI and payback.
• Prepare models to inform pricing decisions, including product mix shifts, elasticity, and competitive pricing
• Identify and measure the Key Performance Indicators that drive the effectiveness of marketing spend in all channels
• Contribute to developing the annual Marketing budget and monthly forecasts
• Perform ad hoc analysis and work on project teams as the needs arise.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

• Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 45 to 55 hours a week.
• Will frequently key in data.
• Must be able to engage in problem-solving skills to help identify and solve potential issues in the field.
• Must be able to communicate heavily through telephone, e-mail, video conference, Microsoft Teams, text/SMS, and in-person communications

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND BEHAVIORS

• Minimum of at least 2-3 years as a Business Analyst focusing on marketing and/or e-commerce (restaurant or consumer company experience preferred, but not required)
• Proven experience in budgeting/forecasting and various types of financial analysis
• Must be at an advanced Excel skill Level and have experience with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI, Planful, or other similar financial systems (statistical analytics experience with R or Python are a bonus)
• High energy level and intellectual curiosity, with a strong desire to learn
• Excellent problem solving, project management, and analytical skills
• Ability to learn new software and manage large data sets
