Job Summary

The Assistant Controller is responsible for planning accounting and business activities within the finance department. This position will be involved in wide variety of activities including the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and data analysis.

Essential Functions

• Manage and actively participate in the monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
• Maintenance/reconciliation of all general and subsidiary ledger accounts.
• Supervise and participate in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
• Directs and participates in cost analyses, rate studies and updating of standard costs.
• Establishes system controls for all financial systems.
• Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
• Coordinates timing of external audit work and provides information requested by the external auditors.
• Reviews financial statements and budget vs. actual variance with management personnel.
• Assemble and summarize data from a wide range of sources, prepare reports, and present analysis while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Analyze financial data and assist in the creation of financial models for decision support.
• Create monthly forecast models as well as components of the annual operating budget.
• Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis/special projects to assist senior management in driving business performance.

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Five or more years of accounting experience working in a fast-paced Finance department
• Proficient to advanced computer skills with prior experience working with accounting application like ERP.
• Experience building forecasting and budget models in Excel
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is typical of an office environment but is usually loud and temperatures will fluctuate from hot to cold depending on outside temperatures in our plants. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, stoop kneel and reach with hands/arms. Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds and walks, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within the plants.
