Accounting Technician
The Role
An exciting opportunity within the Finance Department has arisen for an Accounting Technician to join the team at The Port of Felixstowe. As an integral member of the Finance team you will work with the wider department to carry out Finance duties as required, while reporting directly to the Financial Planning accountant.
In the role you will gain experience, while acquiring new knowledge in the Finance Department and other business areas with full support provided to gain qualification and continued development. You will provide financial, administrative and systems support to colleagues in the Finance Team.
Key Requirements
· Carry out daily treasury preparation, including weekly cash report and month end cash journal.
· Support the Finance Team in preparing monthly journals and reports.
· Carry out monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of accounting discrepancies.
· Complete routine account analysis and check daily finance systems interface to ensure data integrity.
· Assist in the maintenance of the fixed asset register and related tasks.
· Assist with Corporation tax return administration and analysis.
· Submit financial information for mandatory reports to the Office of National Statistics.
· Provide detailed notes for management accounts.

Who are we looking for?
Suitable applicants should meet the following criteria:
· Minimum of 5 GCSE’s ‘A*-C’ grades (or equivalent) including English, Maths, Science
· Be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative and as part of a team, prioritising work based on demands of the department and own workload
· Committed to achieve in the role and successfully complete related qualification
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook.
It would be advantageous to have:
· At least first level of relevant accounting technician qualification (i.e. AAT)
· Minimum 1 years’ experience working in a Finance Function
· Working knowledge of Oracle
· Strong communication skills
· Good organisational skills.
