About the Position:
The Associate Vice President, Student Services is a college-wide administrative position responsible for managing and providing oversight for key aspects of student services operations throughout the College. This position is responsible for supervision, management, planning, design and development of all student services programs delivered all campuses and satellite centers as well as all student services personnel. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Services, the Associate Vice President is responsible for maintaining and enhancing ongoing operational excellence among all assigned Student Services personnel as well as collaborating with college leadership, full-time and adjunct faculty, staff, and students to create and promote an environment that values the teaching, learning, and student success processes. This position requires a leadership style that exemplifies Polk State’s core values of service, integrity, knowledge, diversity, and leadership.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Provides oversight of campus-based advising services, District services such as Career Services, the First-Year Experience, etc., and online student supports.
Interprets/implements college and district student services and administrative policies for staff, including the PACTS Advising Model.
Ensures compliance with State and Federal Statutes (i.e. FERPA, ADA, etc.).
Hires, trains, evaluates, rewards and encourages, as well as disciplines assigned employees.
Develops and maintains student services’ staff mentoring and ongoing professional development activities.
Supports faculty and student services’ staff initiatives that promote innovation, student success and enhanced learning.
Maintains ownership of the College’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan and supervises college-wide recruitment and outreach efforts in local schools, the community, etc.
Assists the College Foundation in exploring potential grant opportunities and, as warranted, development of proposals for these opportunities.
Prepares budget requests/reports and manage expenditures of funds as requested by the Vice President for Student Services.
Compiles and submits data as needed for district/state reports. Tracks, interprets, and shares data/information that is used (or could be used) by Office of Institutional Effectiveness to increase college’s effectiveness/efficiency related to student success/retention and completion.
Oversees the coordination of student recruitment, course registration activities, graduation and related activities. Provide for coordination of these activities with other organizational units.
Supports the Vice President of Student Services in overseeing the certification of student enrollments and student completions and graduations.
Coordinates with academic & workforce units in the development and implementation of admission requirements and of the credit course schedule.
Responsible for all equipment assigned to student services administrative area, including inventory, maintenance and replacement planning. Also recommends efficient allocation of space to support student services.
Develops/produces information for college brochures, catalogues, etc. as requested and assists with promotion of all student services programs and services.
Participates input regarding the development of the institution’s academic calendar.
Assists with the review and revision of college policies and procedures as requested.
Provides input in the discussion of data that affects course offerings to enhance collegewide enrollment and maximize efficiencies.
Maintains, organizes, evaluates, and manages outcomes assessment for student services functions.
Participates in strategic planning initiatives and special projects as requested by college administration.
Models and sustains effective servant leadership and shared governance practices that enhance achievement of the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the college.
Remains active in professional organizations by attending and/or presenting at conferences.
Creates and sustains partnerships with local elementary, middle and high schools and home school organizations to ensure widespread outreach of Polk State College programs and services.
Maintains Regular Attendance.

This position is a level A20. To determine starting salary, Polk State College takes into consideration the pay level minimum, the candidate’s qualifications and internal equity factors.
Required Skills
Knowledge of principles and practices of student services administration including theory and best practices.
Ability to effectively supervise staff.
Knowledge of state and federal laws related to student services and community colleges.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local financial aid laws and rules.
Working knowledge of community college athletic program requirements.
Hands-on knowledge of all relevant ERP functions.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with a variety of stakeholders of considerable importance.
Ability to work independently on broad general activities with the responsibility for planning and delegation of work.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community in an environment that values open and honest communication.
Required Education:
A Master’s Degree in education, student personnel services, student development, educational administration or a related field is required from a accredited institution required. Doctorate Degree preferred.

Required Experience:
A Minimum of five years Student Services administration experience in Higher education is required, to include experience in student appeals, grievance and conduct resolution, academic and career counseling, disability support services, and/or student retention/success programs.
