JOB SUMMARY

The Sales Tax Accountant is responsible for multi-state sales tax [sales tax filings, ing, accruing, reconciling]. The tax accountant is a member of the corporate tax department and is involved in tax compliance, tax planning and decision-making throughout the year, working as part of a team to accomplish goals. If tax accounting interests you but a tax season doesn’t, then this job is for you!

DURING A TYPICAL DAY (IF THERE IS ONE)…

• Complete and file monthly and/or quarterly sales tax s for taxing authorities.
• Ensures compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.
• Assist with sales and use tax audits.
• Respond and manage notices from tax jurisdictions and support the resolution of issues.
• Research and interpret tax statutes and regulations.
• Review sales and use tax accruals and educate team members on proper tax treatment.
• Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business grows and changes.
• Collaborates with accounting, accounts payable, and procurement to ensure items are properly classified and improves processes when identified.
• Participate in training opportunities, formal or hands-on.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

• You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience required.
• You are detailed, thorough, ethical, and enjoy interacting with others and providing customer service.
• Two years’ experience in multi-state sales and use tax [sales tax filing, ing, accruing and reconciling].
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and juggle between divisional, local, and corporate management and demands.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to embrace change.
• A positive approach, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable automation systems [OnBase], financial operations intelligence platforms [OneStream] and business accounting or enterprise resource planning [ERP] software [Microsoft Dynamics GP].
• Understand the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning new programs.

BONUS POINTS

• CPA [Certified Public Accounting] license or interest in pursuing a CPA license
