The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our financial accounting team for an interim finance assistant covering a period of maternity leave. This is a varied role and will involve supporting the financial accounting team.

You will be getting involved in month end administration of finance systems, updating exchange rates, period end accounting for fixed assets, banking payment approvals, VAT and stats returns.

This is an incredibly varied role that will involve deputising and supporting the group treasurer and business support accountants and this will you to pick up a range of new skills.

You will be supporting the financial accountant to make sure that the monthly and yearly returns are completed on time and with the team meet deadlines for both company and group reporting. There is a lot of change going through P&O Ferries at the moment and at times you may be tasked with work that will allow you to use your accounting skills to the fullest.

This is a hybrid working role with three days in the office and two days from home.

The person

So what skills are we looking for?

• At least AAT qualified
• Experience of working in a busy and complex accounting function in a mid or large size organisation
• The ability to meet multiple conflicting deadlines and the ability to prioritise your workload
• Strong stakeholder communication skills to allow you to coordinate contributions to complete the statutory accounts
• The ability to pick up new knowledge and keen to learn IFRS and GAAP principles.
