Licensed Customs Broker & Office Manager

PMK International LLC seeks an Office Manager with a U.S. Customs Brokerage License (LCB) and with intent to become License Holder of Record for PMK.

Responsibilities

Customs, Compliance and Freight Logistics

• Ensure PMK maintains full compliance with U.S. laws and regulations
• Prepare to become the future LCB of record
• Maintain C-TPAT compliance and certification
• Subject matter expert for regulatory, HTS classification, duty, PGA, Section 301 tariffs and exclusions, etc.
• Duty Statement and oversee quality control, audit and compliance
• Make binding ruling requests, post summary corrections, protests and duty exclusions
• Monitor trade restrictions, general prohibitions, new legislation, and new import requirements and educate owners, staff and clients
• Oversee customs bond program
• Oversee freight forwarding and logistics services, a smaller but important part of operations
• Maintain a client file load to develop expert knowledge in Descartes NetChb, how staff work and operations workflow
• Oversee accounting and financial management, aligned to finance and credit policies
• Protect PMK reputation by managing customs operations risk and client satisfaction

Relationship Management

• Ensure PMK consistently meets or exceeds client expectations
• Oversee business development and new client set up including powers of attorney, credit application and risk analysis including CTPAT
• Act as senior contact for clients and oversee distribution of workload among team in collaboration with Import Supervisor
• Maintain relationships with steamship lines, agents, government agencies, docks, trucking companies, warehouses, bond companies and other entities
• Represent PMK at broker association meetings and events
• Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints, internally and externally

Leadership

• Manage 6 seasoned customs professionals and 1 staff accountant. The team may increase by 3 to 4 hires in 2023 and you will play a lead role in hiring new staff
• Train and manage performance, foster leadership and professional development of each staff including mentoring for LCB exam
• Ensure sound HR practices according to company policy and law
• Help staff solve small problems quickly and accurately to avert big problems
• Be available outside regular business hours to support staff and shipments

Other

• Present regular KPI ing and plans to address budgetary or operational challenges
• Progress company strategy including deploying resources needed to deliver on plans
• Oversee office including IT (supported), equipment, health and safety, staff events, etc .
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and foster continuous improvement
• Ensure Code of Ethics are understood and followed
• Progress environmental and social purpose objectives

Qualifications, & Education

• U.S. Customs Broker License, in good standing
• Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures, FDA and OGA transactions
• 10+ years customs experience
• Bachelors’ degree preferred but not required
• Leadership and management track record including regular advancement (5+ years)
• Positive reviews from previous employers, direct s and clients
• Strong computer skills including M365 suite, brokerage/accounting software and cloud environment. PMK is working towards a reduced paper use
• Ease working in a growth-oriented small business environment

Pay & Benefits

Compensation is $80,000 to $110,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
