SALARY RANGE:
$106,000 – $156,000

Job Summary:
Lead and manage a team responsible for a Group-3 UAV avionics and payload integrations, including both electrical systems and software development, through the complete system development life-cycle in a multidisciplinary aerospace environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Design/Implement automated testing suite for physical devices using locally hosted hardware such as motor/servo controllers and virtual serial port servers.
• Lead quality assurance activities related to electrical and software (Firmware & applications) at both the harness and the PCB design level
• Manage a team of electrical and software engineers, managing the task list with work assignments, performing technical reviews, and leading new technical developments.
• Analyze, decompose, translate, and create requirements for avionics changes and new payload integration within an existing system of moderate to high complexity
• Review technical problems; provide solutions for software, hardware, and systems; troubleshoot operating anomalies with emphasis on electronics and software.
• Develop and document functional, interface, and performance specifications for hardware and software implementation. Identify and document architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas.
• Manage documentation of technical designs, user training, and operation manuals.
• Lead technical proposal preparation and serve as the subject matter expert in non-advocate, internal, and customer reviews. Support elaboration of systems activities development plans in the context of a team and with program execution, including customization of systems development processes.
• Serve in a design quality role (systems) helping to ensure that project planning is accomplished to the appropriate level of fidelity and ensure that development teams are following appropriate processes.
• Maintain awareness of technology within the domain or system and develop technology strategies for the domain or system. Provide inputs to technical & product roadmaps.
• Draft and review Interim and Permanent Flight Clearances for the integration of respective avionics or payloads.
• Lead requirements analysis and design / code reviews.
• Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master s degree in a STEM discipline, Computer Science and Software Engineering preferred.
• Experience automating common tasks with GitHub Actions and/or Ansible
• Experience with automated metric collection tools such as Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
• Extensive experience working in software development for mission critical systems
• Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with Python , C, C++, C#, Arduino, or similar microcontroller languages
• A technical understanding of aircraft flight controls and hands-on experience writing autopilot code and hands-on experience flying model aircraft
• Accurate and precise attention to detail with creative and innovative thinking and planning
• Must be a team player with great communication skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Experience contributing to the flight clearance and/or safety review process
• Basic understanding of networking concepts such as network sockets, NAT, and the differences between routing and switching

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with strong software development background
• 4+ years of professional experience in software development for system level integration and testing
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance

Pay: $106,000.00 – $156,000.00 per year
