Planned Parenthood of Southwest & Central Florida is looking for the right candidate to fill the role of Community Outreach Educator for Sarasota/Manatee County.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Serve as community educator and PP representative for Sarasota, Manatee, North Port, and Desoto Counties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Promotes, and responds to requests for sexuality educational programs in schools, agencies, and other community organizations.
• Represents, identifies, and participates as PPSWCF at coalition and community meetings and events.
• Facilitates Peer Education Programming.
• Conducts classroom or small group health and sexuality educational sessions in accordance with PPSWCF or other approved curricula or formats.
• Prepares educational lessons and informational materials, exercises and activities that are age and culturally appropriate to the target population.
• Plan and implement targeted community outreach, education, and youth development programs in accordance with PPSWCF guidelines.
• Manages multiple programs/assignments concurrently.
• Implements scope of work in grants/contracts according to contract timelines as assigned.
• Collects and processes program and demographic data and prepares reports for funding sources in accordance with contract/grant guidelines.
• Participates in planning department’s objectives for annual and strategic plans.
• Assists with project proposal planning and development, as necessary.
• Keep supervisor informed of all job activities through regular phone calls, meetings, and email communications.
• Participate in research, development and creation of new curriculum lessons as determined by population need.
• Maintain proficiency in current medical terminology, human anatomy, medical test and procedures and sexual health related issues.
• Demonstrate flexibility in work habits (including the possibility of occasionally working evenings and/or weekends) and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Demonstrate ability to respond positively to constant change and help lead the way forward to include new developments in education, targeted to both new and existing clients, schools, government, and other community members.
• Represent and share PPSWCF goals, goodwill and philosophy in interaction with all clients and community contacts.
• Provides educational/in-service training support to other departments within this agency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job responsibilities for PPSWCF Peer Ed Program Facilitator and Outreach Educator

• Recruit participants for program, find site(s) for weekly meetings, and run weekly meetings.
• Establish and manage relationships with community partners for hosting PPSWCF Teen Peer Education presentations and the ongoing expansion of the Peer Education program.
• Present education workshops in conjunction with the Peer Education members.
• Schedule, coordinate, collect, and track all Peer Education forms, activities, and presentations.
• Schedule and coordinate guest speakers and events for the Peer Ed weekly meetingsCoordinate the advocacy work of PPSWCF Peer Education Program in collaboration with advocacy staff and guidelines.
• Attend monthly bi-monthly meetings with the other team members who are providing the Peer Education Program in their county.· Keep a record of important documents for your peer ed group (applications, W-9 forms, consent forms, and agreements).
• Manage participants activity logs to track education outputs for impact and reporting.
• Develop new relationships with community partners and continue building existing relationships to provide education and connection to PP medical services.

Education:

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in youth development, social work, psychology, education, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.

Equipment Used:

Standard office equipment, including computer, telephone, fax and copy machine and programs including Zoom, WORD, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and other internet software as identified.

License(s)/Certifications Required:

Complete and maintain continuing education training and annual updates, Train the Trainer, Invitational Theory and Practice, Sexual Attitude Reassessment training and/or other certification as required by the position.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:

Ability to visually observe department and agency staff and supervise youth within general PPSWCF programs. Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds of weight. Local and possible out of state travel (air travel) required on company business: reliable transportation, Florida driver’s license and documentation of automobile insurance required.

Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of PPSWCF’s total compensation package for employees.
