Job description

Plaid Shirt Projects is seeking a qualified person to join our team of building enthusiasts as a Site Assistant! You will be actively involved in the maintenance & upkeep of several construction sites, working with our Construction Manager to ensure quality, organization & commitment to our #plaidbuilt building practices. Your team will be a collective of experienced industry professionals, and your projects will be a variety of interesting & engaging builds with a focus on quality & long term sustainability. As Site Assistant, you will be a self starter, an excellent communicator, meticulously organized & assertive. You will have at least 4 years of relevant construction experience, not be afraid to get you hands dirty & support our sub-trades however needed. Preference is given to applicants with a strong carpentry background and a working knowledge of all aspects of the building process. A valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract are required.

Start Date: April/May 2023

Vacation: 2 weeks paid

Requirements: Valid DL, basic hand tools

Probationary Period: 3 months

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / DELIVERABLES:

The Site Assistant works closely with the Construction Manager (CM) to ensure that current job sites are operating safely and efficiently, and able to progress as scheduled. The Site Assistant is a team player – willing and able to take on a variety of tasks in service of the projects.

Your responsibilities:

• implement measures provided by the CM to maintain a site that is clean, safe, secure, and accessible at all times
• provide hands-on support required for work to be completed efficiently, troubleshooting issues as they arise
• secondary contact for all construction related onsite activity including supply deliveries & trade coordination
• assist CM in updating the schedule of each project
• taking on construction tasks that fall outside the scope of the related subcontracted trades
• in-house site work, when required, dependant upon your skill set (ie. finishing carpentry, backframing, paint touch ups, etc)

These are the basic responsibilities of the role – but as a small & growing company, we all wear lots of hats, and our roles overlap – particularly as the work intensity ebbs and flows, or as we cover for each other during sickness, holidays, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
