Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics Hiring for Financial Aid Advisor at West Mifflin, PA Full Time

Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, founded in 1929, is a nationwide leader in aviation maintenance and electronics training and is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Financial Aid Advisor. This position will support our branch campuses by assisting students and parents in determining the affordability of obtaining education through Financial Aid assistance and payment options; assistance with the financial award process, need analysis, counseling, financial aid follow-up and aid reporting. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate with students in person, and at a distance using email, telephone, and videoconferencing such as Microsoft Teams.

Salary: $35,000 – 40,000/yr

Job Requirements:
Act as the Financial Aid point of contact for students at PIA’s Hagerstown and Youngstown campuses in cooperation with the Admissions Department and the Campus Coordinators

Answer phone calls and emails from students and parents regarding financial aid

Enter and maintain financial aid data in the financial aid management system

Guide and advise current and prospective students concerning financial aid programs, forms, regulations, and procedures

Review data on the federal NSLDS system to determine default and overpayment information. Follow up with students or staff to resolve problems

Assist in the disbursement of federal student aid

Review federal need analysis documents and income documentation for accuracy to complete verification

Package students based on federal financial aid guidelines

Participate in federal and professional association webinars, workshops, and conferences to remain current with financial aid regulations

Other duities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Traits:
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Possess a general understanding of Federal Regulations as they relate to Title IV funding as well as an understanding of basic federal tax law as it relates to Financial Aid

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Organizational skills with attention to detail

Exemplary customer service skills to promote a student-centered environment and support student success

Financial Aid Management System Experience Preferred (CNS/Anthology Student)

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education

At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Financial Aid or other experience related to Postsecondary education

Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
