Our client is looking for an excellent Financial Accountant/Management Accountant to undertake complex finance related work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents.

The position will perform various activities within one or more of the core finance functions of the Finance and Corporate Service Division, that may include, financial accounting, management accounting, finance business partnering, financial analytics and scheme finance.

The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to interpret relevant finance legislation, policy and standards in the application of practices and procedures to achieve a variety of finance outcomes.

Job Duties:

• Analysing and interpreting statistical reports to assist with the development of work plans and strategic planning.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects.
• Coordinating and providing cost estimates for all internal and external requests for changes to systems.
• Developing correspondence for stakeholders, such as financial reports, corporate documentation and responses to ministerial submissions.
• Exercising appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
• Managing quality assurance activities and outcomes including the use of integrity/error reporting and the coordination of quality audits.
• Preparing a range of written material including business cases, reports and corporate documentation.
• Undertaking quality assurance of feasibility and cost estimates, assumptions and justifications.
• Undertaking detailed financial analysis of branch/division’s variance to budget and forecast.
• Undertaking financial administration and across the division’s cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals.

Essential Criteria:

• Part Qualified or Qualified in CA/CPA/IPA
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including VBA)
• Australian Citizenship
• Government experience
• Highly developed skills in data analysis and report development including experience in using data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or SAS Visual Analytics.
• Experience in SAS Enterprise Guide (including coding with SAS and SQL).
• Ability to interpret and transform data into presentable dashboards
