Assistant Accountant

This role is being recruited initially on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Duties:

• Process all invoices in a timely manner working alongside the relevant teams for accuracy. Ensure authorised POs are matched against all invoices prior to payment.
• To manage all supplier payments ensuring all payments are set up accurately and in advance to meet deadlines and your line manager can approve in a timely manner.
• Ensure master data is complete and accurate and payment runs are automated through Sage.
• Maintain a strong control environment in terms of payment processing, authorisations and bank detail management.
• Working alongside the relevant teams to ensure all sales invoices / credits are processed in a timely manner, and to ensure accuracy before posting in Sage.
• Proactively chase outstanding payments utilising the Sage credit control function and relevant client contacts within the business.
• To oversee and manage deferred income and the residual balances, closely liaising with the AM team and your line manager and actively reducing balances. Ensure revenue is reconciled to the TB, sales figures spreadsheet and accrued / deferred / invoiced by client.
• To ensure all invoices and journal entries are accurately input and calculated in all systems.
• Reconcile at each month end all ledgers, bank accounts and update FX evaluations, run relevant process in Sage for the next accounting period.
• Ensure month end timetable is kept up-to-date and completed in a timely manner.
• Prepare and plan in advance for yearend entries and reconciliations, following the month end timetable.

Skills and abilities needed:

• Studying towards an Accounting Professional Qualification – AAT/ACCA/CIMA
• At least two years relevant experience
• Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, Sumifs).

Salary + Additional information:

• Paying between £32,000 – £35,000
• 2 days in the office 3 days from home
