Pine Knot Ranch Hiring for Ranch Caretaker at Sula, Montana Full Time

Job Title: Ranch Caretaker (this is NOT a working ranch)

Status: Year-round

Wage: DOE (includes housing, utilities, some transportation, free skiing/boarding)

Job Description: Though this is not a working ranch, there is a lot to take care of.

Spring:

• Mow area around the ranch house and outbuildings.
• Some general ranch maintenance as needed
• Fuel and maintain ranch vehicles
• Intermittent pet sitting (dogs and cats)
• Load furnace with wood daily (until the weather is warmer)
• Dump garbage from ski area (until middle of April)
• Ski area parking lot duties

Summer:

• Set up sprinkler system
• Mow area around the ranch house and outbuildings
• Keep area around ranch house and outbuildings sufficiently watered
• Move sprinklers as needed
• Gather wood and stack in the shop for furnace
• Fuel and maintain ranch vehicles
• Some general ranch maintenance as needed
• Pet sitting typically for 3-4 weeks at a time (dogs and cats)

Fall:

• Keep area around ranch house and outbuildings sufficiently watered (until the weather changes)
• Load furnace with wood daily (when the weather turns cold)
• Fuel and maintain ranch vehicles
• Intermittent pet sitting (dogs and cats)

Winter:

• Load furnace with wood daily
• Dump garbage from ski area
• Ski area parking lot duties
• Fuel and maintain ranch vehicles
• Remove snow from around the ranch house and outbuildings
• Pet sitting (dogs and cats)

Requirements:

• Cell phone
• Personal vehicle
• Clean background check
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to operate machinery
• Attention to detail
• Physical strength and stamina

***Trade for housing/utilities is for working 15-20 hours a week at the ranch depending on the season. Approximately 20 hours of work a week is required at the ski area from the end of November through middle of April and is paid work through the ski area. Ski area work is dependent on skill set. Housing provided is a fully furnished, one bedroom home not suitable for families.
