Child and Youth Mentors are typically included in the wraparound process to align strategies, interventions, and supports for the child/youth and family to prevent the need for out of home placement. They may also be utilized in maintaining stabilization, preventing crisis situations, and/or de-escalation of crisis situations.
Responsibilities of a Child and Youth Mentor
· Communicates with administrative staff.
· Assists in the implementation of individual plans for individuals and behavioral plan goals in accordance with the service plan.
· Treats individuals with dignity and respect.
· Represents Family Pikes Peak Respite Services in a professional manner to families, service coordinators, and community partners.
· Develops a personal and positive rapport with a child. This involves consistent meetings with the child and ensuring the meeting times are enjoyable and comfortable.
· Acts as a cheerleader, coach, and advocate for children.
· Provides a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries.
· Acknowledges their strengths, talents and gifts and encourages them to find ways to use them.
· Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate.
· Engages in activities outside of the home to help expose youth to new opportunities and experiences.

· Must have an outgoing personality that supports engaging people from different cultures, ages, and backgrounds.

Employment TypesPart Time –
12-30 hours per week for non-family providers
Full Time –
31-40 hour per week
Contractor
· A Contract with our agency
· Liability insurance (NSO insurance is really inexpensive for individuals)
· Secretary of State registration (registering as whatever they incorporated as, LLC is the easiest and can be done really cheap through legal zoom)
· Any licenses you have like CNA etc.
Benefits

Contractor Pay Rate: $21.00/hour Employee: $20.00/hour
