Photonic Hiring for Quantum Machine Learning Researcher at British Columbia Full Time

As a Quantum Machine Learning Researcher at Photonic, you will be an integral part of our quantum algorithms and applications development team, implementing and optimizing conventional and quantum algorithms for classical and quantum computers. You will use your (quantum) machine learning knowledge to develop new models and support various customer applications, particularly in computer-aided drug discovery, create intellectual property, and publish scientific papers. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated team of engineers and scientists to realize the systems needed for truly scalable quantum computing. You are a self-starter with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

Research, develop and implement new quantum machine learning algorithms and benchmark the novel algorithms.

Perform resource estimations (physical and logical qubits) and simulations for customer applications.

Develop practical classical and quantum ML and CADD solutions for Photonic’s quantum computers.

Collaborate with other teams to develop and optimize Photonic quantum hardware and software stacks, error mitigation, and error correction processes.

Contribute to the Intellectual Property development process.

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

Ph.D. in computer science, math, physics or related fields (Ph.D. students who are close to finishing can also apply)

Solid understanding of quantum information theory and quantum computing

Practical proof-record attainment in quantum machine learning (or a solid background in classical machine learning with the passion and ability to self-learn QML)

Advanced knowledge of machine learning theory and practical experience in training models

Practical experience with simulation on quantum computers and simulators is a plus.

Practical experience in parallel programming, MPI, GPU and cloud computing, and working with HPCs is a plus.

Familiarity with generative models and autoencoders is a plus.

Familiarity with in silico drug discovery (CADD) pipelines and high throughput screening are a plus.

Ability to self-motivate and self-learn complex topics in a fast-paced environment

Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve ambiguous situations

Experience working in a start-up company, working with senior leadership, scientists, engineers, and other team members

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

Able to work with minimal supervision and outstanding teamwork skills

Able to work in the Photonic place in the beautiful BC
