PHOENIX LITHOGRAPHING CORPORATION, a commercial printing and direct mail company, is seeking highly qualified roll-to-roll web press operator at its northeast Philadelphia facility. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-established company doing high quality work on state-of-the-art equipment.

This is a full-time position. All shifts available.

ROLL TO ROLL WEB PRESS OPERATOR – Full-Time

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain multi-color roll-to-roll web offset presses to print quality production, and maintain quality of product.
• Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run.
• Ensure that all make-ready tasks are done which are associated with the press such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections and checking for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work.
• Ensure that the press is clean, lubricated, and maintained, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required. Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
• Responsible for over all quality of the printed product including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality and postal specifications.
• Responsible for producing a sample-quality product.
• Provide accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
• Responsible for maintaining a Preventive Maintenance Program for the press, and notifying the maintenance department of issues with the equipment.
• Must be able to work full time with some overtime as needed.

Experience/Knowledge:

• 5 years web press printing experience (not flexo).
• Knowledge of in-line finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color and register.
• Requires comprehensive knowledge of equipment and safety requirements to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment.
• Experience on the roll-to-roll press. Experience on Sunday press, G-14 and V-30 a plus.

• Skill in a wide-variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to perform a variety of tasks to set-up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment.
• The ability to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully.
• Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.

Physical Demands

• Continuous standing/walking – 8 hrs or more.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching.
• Occasional lifting and pushing/pulling – 50 lbs. or less.
• Occasional repetitive motion with both hands.
• Cannot be colorblind.

Salary range:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
