The Gas Operations Training Team is a dynamic group within PG&E Academy that focuses on strategically aligning itself with Gas Operations business toward a goal of creating the safest most reliable gas operating system in the industry. It is our job to increase employee safety and productivity by designing, developing, and delivering best in industry learning and on the job support solutions. Position Summary
The Technical Instructor will be part of a high-performance learning organization where teamwork, initiative, technical, and facilitation skills form the foundation of outstanding learning success. The position will primarily be delivering GPOM & Field Services training classes at the Winters Gas Safety Academy where the Instructor will lead the training efforts for employees who perform duties related to Gas Operations. This position may require approximately 30% travel throughout the PG&E service territory.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrate the use of technical expertise and skills to students; act as subject matter expert in the classroom
Ability to observe, coach and mentor students that are training in simulated field environment
Demonstrates skill in delivering clear, understandable oral presentations to groups; effectively organizes and tailors presentation to meet the needs of the audience in classroom and simulated field environment
Effectively communicates information for the purpose of having others learn, understand, and apply specific principles, techniques, or information
Deals with interpersonally and/or politically challenging situations calmly and diplomatically, diffusing tension; facilitates communication and resolves problems
Effectively coordinates activities, services, and schedules to ensure smooth and efficient operation of work
Diligently attends to details and quality; shows a high level of care and thoroughness in handling the details of the job; maintains focus and quality under distracting working conditions and high workload
Critically observes and inspects structures, products, and environmental conditions to collect information and detect problematic situations
Demonstrates skill in controlling operations of equipment of systems
Attention to detail and accuracy of documents
Presents self as a positive representative of the organization; projects confidence, alertness, and energy; grasps the nuances of appropriate behavior for the situation
Identifies process problems and opportunities for improvement and simplification and takes action to control and improves processes
Tracks results to ensure quality work is being performed and rework is completed in a timely manner
Monitors, gathers and analyzes information, determines potential impacts, and recommends responses to challenges
Ability to use current training methods, training techniques and training presentation technologies to effectively communicate curriculum
Understands levels of evaluation and importance of task analysis and training impact measurement strategies
Collaborate with Curriculum Development to update and develop course curriculum, materials and training aids
Evaluates student performance in alignment with program goals and objectives and provides feedback and reports to clients on performance and progress
Reads, interprets and applies technical standards in accordance with company policies and procedures
Tests and monitors student knowledge and understanding
Qualifications
Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED
1 year of related job experience
Mastery of skillset in which training will be delivered
Journeyman level experience installing and maintaining gas pressure control regulation and instrumentation equipment
Desired:
College degree in engineering or technical discipline
Technical Training Certification (COMPTIA), or equivalent
Experience and knowledge operating construction equipment
Minimum 2 years experience in Gas Construction
