ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Safe operation of excavator/backhoe

• Handling and/or moving material

• Knowledge of the excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks

• Excavate trenches on grade

• Proper backfill procedures around pipe to maintain ovality and to achieve compaction

• Rig, lift, swing and set precast structures and pipe materials

• Safely and efficiently move excavator around the jobsite

Technical Knowledge:

• Effective communication skills

• Identify, and correct hazards

• Ability to use the controls to effectively operate the excavator/backhoe

• Understands and watches machine control, gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.

• Rigging and hoisting

• Safe trenching

Training and Experience:

• 3 years of excavator / trackhoe / backhoe operation experience required

• Experience excavating for and installing large pipe for underground utilities including water, storm, and sewer required.

• Competent Person Training preferred

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Punctual and Reliable

Compensation: Competitive and Negotiable, Up to $30/hr based on experience.

Hours / Shifts: Normal hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM M-F. Some sites 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM M-TH, and some Saturdays.? We plan to work 45-50 hours each week. Overtime is likely but not guaranteed.
