Petra design INC Hiring for QC Technician -Precast concrete at North York, ON Full Time

Petra Design has positions available for a QC Engineer/Lab Engineer for its Precast/GFRC/GRG & UHPC manufacturing facility.

This is a seasonal, full-time position.

Functions/Responsibilities:

The QC / lab Engineer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of quality control under the supervision of project managers, supervisors or scheduling coordinators.

• Develop the mix design for Precast to comply with project specification and achieve the required properties.
• Lead research and development in Precast materials and provide documented solutions to ensure ease in manufacturing, with consideration to cost and necessary technical properties.
• Inspect the quality of Precast/GFRC/UHPC/GRG materials. Carry out standard tests in both indoor and outdoor environments, ie. execute tests in the field or laboratory.
• Monitor material placement and workmanship.
• Review documents and specifications, and maintain daily check list diary of activities.
• Report any non-conformance concerns to management.
• Ensure accuracy of test data.
• Perform visual inspections.
• Participate at factory improvement.
• Maintain equipment and laboratory in good condition.

What’s required?

• Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Construction Management or other related technical academic experience.
• Concrete testing and casting samples for lab testing an asset
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Highly organized, ability to work independently and self-manage.
• Good physical condition.
• Knowledge of ASTM testing procedures.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.

What’s nice to have?

• GFRC and/or UHPC experience; or, otherwise precast experience.
• Concrete testing and design mix experience an asset
• Knowledge with PCI/ CSA quality control procedure.
• Knowledge with GFRC and UHPC materials properties and testing procedures.

• Completed or Pursuing a Graduate Degree (Preferred)
