We are looking for a full-time Australia-based Finance Manager to help us level-up our finance function as we scale our business. You will take ownership of day to day accounting and financial control at Perx, as well as lean in on management reporting and special projects to support our Head of Operations & Legal, and working closely with the Founders and our third-party Finance partner. The ideal candidate has rock solid finance and accounting skills coupled with good commercial acumen, top-notch attention to detail, and a knack for taking any process and making it more efficient. You’ll also lean in to support special Business Operations and strategic projects across Perx as we scale. Working at the confluence of fast-moving software, life-saving healthcare and large-scale enterprise, this role will help us achieve sustainable impact in the world and ensure we have the financial foundation in place to continuously exceed the expectations of our customers, program participants and other stakeholders.

Your day-to-day will involve:

• Owning the finance function and building processes that will support scaling, so that we can impact the health of a hundred thousand more lives.
• Taking responsibility for financial management and investor reporting, ensuring quality and accuracy coupled with key insights to help our Board, Investors and Executive Team make better and faster decisions.
• Working closely with our external specialists, including our Finance partner, auditors, lawyers and international tax advisors, to bring the best of their knowledge to bear on a variety of topics and problems. This role is a fast-track to getting a solid understanding of how to run a business!
• Running our quarterly and annual financial planning process, including working with Founders and functional leads to build forecasts and managing our reporting cycles with Finance partners.
• Overseeing our Finance partners to manage bookkeeping and payroll to ensure smooth and accurate processing and reporting.
• Working closely with the Founders on future capital raise requirements, financing strategy and investor communications.
• Picking up special projects, whether related to operations, fundraising or investor relations, to help the company expand and scale in Australia and the United States.

Within 1 month, you will:

• Hit the ground running to work with our Head of Operations & Legal and our external Finance partner at the heart of the business.
• Quickly get up to speed with the financial requirements and processes related to our business and all of our stakeholders: our customers; our external stakeholders; plus our participants who we exist to serve.
• Meet the entire company and learn the nuts and bolts of our business, and where we’re going so that you are ready to start taking ownership of our finance function and manage our external specialists.

Within 3 months, you will:

• Start to take ownership of coordinating our compliance and reporting requirements for our investors, grants and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of key performance metrics to the business.
• Begin developing scalable, employee and customer friendly finance processes to support efficient and accurate finance, expense and income management along with operating metrics reporting.
• Partner closely with our Finance partner to manage all aspects of financial control, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and reimbursements.

Within 6 months, you will:

• Become an expert in our finance systems and processes, and manage various external specialists in a coordinated finance strategy across Australia and the United States.
• Think ahead on our business and expansion plans to define an agenda of finance requirements and improvements so that we get ahead on implementing best practices and have the financial foundation to realise our mission!
• Extend beyond your core role by picking up additional strategic Business Operations projects from the Head of Operations & Legal or the Founders where you can add value and extend your skillsets.

About you

• You like to take responsibility and so are excited by the opportunity to take initiative, make decisions and own the outcomes.
• You are comfortable with ambiguity and so you are ready to iterate with an 80-20 mindset, adjust plans when required and pick things up quickly.
• You are multi-talented with discipline to do the work while also being an effective communicator and relationship builder both internally and externally.
• You have relevant financial experience (e.g. investment bank, consulting or large financial services firm), but want to translate that skill set to commercialisation and hands-on implementation and impact.
• You have are data driven and have a keen analytical mind with strong reporting skills.
• You understand accounting. Whilst we are not looking for accountants, a foundational knowledge of accounting is key for this role.
